How to get there: Go to Malibu Creek State park. You can pay to park inside or park outside for free. Follow signs for Malibu Creek. It is about a 3-mile hike.
What to bring: I recommend bringing a comfortable pair of shoes to hike with and another pair to jump with.
Tips: There are different places to jump all around the creek. You can also rock climb there too.
Difficulty: The hardest part about this place is the hike. There is a variety of small jumps and some bigger jumps.
How to get there: First you need to get to the trailhead. Then you need to find signs for Hermit Falls. It’s about a 2.2-mile hike.
What to bring: Just like Malibu Creek, I recommend bringing a comfortable pair of shoes for the hike and another pair to jump with.
Tips: If the water is high enough you can jump from some high places. There is a rope built into one of the rocks that you can use to get back up. You can also slide down the waterfall. Just make sure to keep your head and legs straight.
Difficulty: Again, the hardest part about this spot is getting there. The hike is hilly and pretty long. The jump isn’t that high and not that sketchy.
How to get there: Park near olive ave in Carlsbad. Walk down the dirt path that is along the lagoon until you get to the railroad tracks.
What to bring: All you really need is a towel. If you want to jump in shoes you can.
Tips: You can jump from the top of the bridge or the lower part. If you haven’t jumped from something this high before, try to land straight and keep your arms tucked in.
Difficulty: The only thing that makes this jump hard is the height. It’s about 40 feet high, but there are no rocks and it’s easy to get to.
How to get there: Find a parking spot on the side of the road. Then follow the coast until you get to the cliff side.
What to bring: All you really need to bring is a towel. There is plenty of space to set down a backpack on the cliff if you want to bring one.
Tips: Once you jump, swim around to the left where you can pull yourself and easily walk back up.
Difficulty: The jump is about 20 feet high. It is pretty straightforward just look out for rocks and other people.
How to get there: Park in a nearby neighborhood as close as possible. to Poppy Ave. Walk down the beach along the coast for about 10 minutes until you see the rock formations.
What to bring: Bring water shoes or regular shoes because the rocks are slippery and can hurt your feet. Bring a wetsuit if the water is cold. It will also prevent you from getting cut. There is a place to set down a backpack and towels before you start swimming out to the rock.
Tips: Swim out and around the left side of the structure to avoid rocks. Pull yourself up around the backside when there are no waves coming in.
Difficulty: There a couple of places to jump from ranging from 15ft – 20ft. The jumps themselves are easier than getting to the actual rock. Pulling yourself up to the rock is the hardest part and requires patience as well as good swimming ability.
